Power/Holiness/Evangelism: Rediscovering God's Purity, Power
I purchased this book as a second thought, and found out I got more than I bargained for. The level of expertise and experience with God impressed me initially, but it was the depth of each topic presented by each of the authors that shocked me. When dealing with God and spiritual subjects in books, there are so many approaches, and many that are really weird, but in this book the contributing authors do much to show by scriptures and experience the reality of the need for the church to be seeking God's power, holiness, and evangelistic outreach to the human race. This is not a book of testimonies alone, but scriptures and the reality of the topics listed in the title. Another book that assisted me in certain sections of this book was I Give You Authority by Charles Kraft. Though much different in subject, it assisted me in understanding some things that are occurring in the South American churches. I highly recommend this book for one's bookself, not only for reading, but as a text book for what is happening in Christianity today.

Unity and Passion for God
The chapters are written by individuals from various backgrounds who are sensing the Holy Spirit drawing them into a closer relationship with God. This purity of heart has been documented in past and present revivals around the world.

Pursue Your Goals (Positively for Kids)

Average review score:

Pursue your goals
I am a sixteen-year-old fan of Eric Lindros, and, yes, I read (and proudly own) this children's book of his. I immensely enjoyed reading it, and actually found it quite inspiring. I feel that this book provides young kids with a new look at the life of a superstar athlete, such as Eric, and shows these children that people like him really are the same as you and me. The message he sends through "Pursue Your Goals" is wonderful, as it tells the children to always work hard and to never, ever give up on any of the goals or dreams they may have in life, no matter how difficult the road ahead may seem to be, because, in the end, hard work, a positive attitude, and dedication really do pay off.

Eric is just as good off the ice as on
Lindros is just a great person. Though his style of play makes you believe he's mean and nasty, in reality he is one of the good ones. His work with the Children's Miracle Network is amazing, and he truly loves kids! This book shows all of this. He is a great role model for kids.

Qualiens: The Prolusion I
Published in Paperback by Xlibris Corporation (July, 2001)

Tempest in a Teapot
This novel begins as a retelling of Shakespeare's The Tempest. I can honestly say that I identified with the main character in that part of the story very much. The other two parts of the story have female protagonists, and I didn't identify with them as much. As an amateur computer programmer, my imagination was captured by the idea that a putterer with a fresh approach might be the first human to contact aliens.

I very much agree with the reviewer who used words like "loopy" and "quirky"; however, I enjoyed the parts about theoretical physics. All in all, I love this book. I think anyone who enjoys the works of Thomas Berger, Kurt Vonnegut, Charles Portis, or for that matter Shakespeare would probably enjoy this book. The book is also accessorized by a jewel-like website, qualiens.com.

This Guy Can Write!
I loved this book! To categorize it as science fiction is to define it too narrowly. Though it is about aliens -the quirky and inscrutable Qua- it's also about real life and love and Big Boggle and books and lots of entertaining stuff. You might want to take the author's advice and skip pages 13 through 16, unless you're the kind of person who reads physics textbooks for fun. But after that it's all snappy dialogue, wit, word play, and a cast of loopy characters who are all heading toward some, as yet unrealized, collision with each other. I can hardly wait for part II to be published. In the meantime, those who like part I can communicate with the author on his website.

Ribbits New Rug
I really do love this book and my childern loved it, it was one of their favorite books a naptime. It has brite colors, has a good moral ending and is very well illustrated. It was used so much the binding is coming off.
I am looking to buy 3 more books so that i can give them to my grandchildern.
This is GREAT book.

Rabbit's New Rug
This book is a good book for young readers. It is an easy reader with a good amount of text. This book will show children that material objects aren't as fun and loving as a good friend who cares about you. This book will change the way you think about how important your friends and family are.

This book is about a rabbit who got a new rug. His rug was the most beutiful rug that he had seen before. So rabbit decided to call up all of his friends to come over to see his new rug. But when they got there he wouldn't let anyone step on it so they had to stand against the wall. Everyone got tired of standing so they all left. So then for days rabbit would just stay at home and clean his rug. Soon rabbit realized that a rug isn't a friend and found out that he wasn't having any fun at all. So he decided to have a party with all of his friends.

Rage

Captivating
Herbert Brown's "Rage" is a riviting read, packed with the ugly and vicious results of one man's rage. Readers will quickly get involved in the lives of the policemen hunting for this violent serial killer. Brown's writing is straight forward, filled with just enough detail to keep you turning the pages. The picture Brown creates of the killer's rage reads real enough to cause chills. This aptly named book is well written with enough breaks from the violence and enough suspence to keep you interested. I predict a great future for this author,
Beverly J Scott author of Righteous Revenge

Great Rage
Herb Brown's book Rage contained everything. It had action and suspence. I loved it and I look forward to reading Brown's next book.

Reades Companion to World Literature
Book was in perfect condition - arrived within 5 days - could not ask for better service

very helpful for the higher level student and serious reader
This book is a must for English majors, Comp. Lit. majors, graduate students in literature (those who aren't too busy grinding away, wasting their time on trendy but sterile literary theory). For those who wish to be truly literate, this book is a great help.

Realistic Collage: Step by Step
Published in Hardcover by North Light Books (March, 1998)
Authors: Michael David Brown, Phil Metzger, and Philip W. Metzger
Average review score:

Wonderful!
This is a great book that does what it says--it takes you step-by-step through the art of "realistic" (representational) collage. The author describes the various media (mostly paper, but also metal & fabric) for the finished collage and the different ways to adhere those media. The book also contains a section on other methods of achieving realistic collage by looking at other artists' work. It's definately worth the money if you enjoy collage.

Fabulous collage ideas!
Originally saw this book while visiting the artist's gallery in Maine. It is attractive, concise and FULL of ideas for tons of projects. The book does a great job of inviting people to use their own creativity while giving them guidance and support. I would recommend it to both beginners and advanced collage artists.

The Rise of Western Christendom: Triumph and Diversity 200-1000 Ad (Making of Europe)
Published in Paperback by Blackwell Publishers (February, 2003)
Author: Peter Robert Lamont Brown
Average review score:

Unbearably brilliant
I just bought this book and will review it again later. I've read Brown on Augustine and am getting what I expect from this book: brilliant writing, brilliant thinking, brilliant scholarship. He turns you upside down and shakes all the change out of your pocket.

Great work
This is a great work that traces the development and movement of Christianity into Europe. A religion that started out in the middle east had, by the end of the work, come to be dominant more in northern Europe than in the middle east itself.

Brown is a very good writer and is able to very eloquently trace out the forces and personalities of the period as well as the theleologic discussions that often divided Byzantine and Latin interpretations of the religion.

While not an introductory work, any reader can benefit from reading this book. At best it will stimulate further interest in the period and reading other authors. At worst, the reader may require some maps and a copy of, "Who's Who in the Middle Ages"

A River Never Sleeps
Published in Hardcover by The Lyons Press (July, 1996)
Authors: Roderick L. Haig Brown and Roderick Langmere Haig-Brown
Average review score:

A book that sticks in the mind.
I read this book in 1964. Shortly after, I mislaid it (gave it on loan) and never saw it again. However, it has stuck in my mind with startling clarity because of the mastery of the author both as a writer and as a fly angler. It is a collection of lucid essays about Roderick Haig-Brown as a boy and a young man learning the art of fly fishing from wonderfully drawn tutors . This is a book that a father would give to his son or an uncle to his nephew. One of the really great angling books of all time.

Bares the soul of fly fishing
Haig-Brown is the master of writing about the sport of fly fishing. Through this work you experience the man, the sport and the land. Though written years ago, it is timeless. His love of the rivers, lakes and their surroundings is shared and felt by anyone who goes afield today with the long rod.

Rock a Bye Collection with Book

For years it's been playing every night at our house!
Our oldest son is 5yrs, and still reminds us to turn it on at bedtime. And if he awakens during the night he will go turn it on again. We have 3 kids and they all love it. One night they weren't able to listen to it because it accidentally got broken. They've all listened to it since they were born. But our 5yr old decided that night he could sing it to his 3yr. old brother and 2yr. old sister. I heard him on the baby monitor and it was so heartwarming!! I promised him I'd replace it soon and he hasn't forgotten that!

Rock A Bye Vol 2
While so many children's CDs are corny or condescending, this is really beautiful music. My son is five now, and we still love this collection of CDs, and play them often, sometimes at dinner or even while floating in the pool. The songs are so soothing, so touching, and so well sung, that we love them as much as he does--and will do so for years!
